Oatly

Every day more and more people make the switch from dairy milk to alternative plant-based options. This change can be for any number of reasons, but one is to lower their carbon footprint. While the intention here is great, it’s important to remember that not all dairy alternatives have an equal impact on the environment.

That’s where Oatly comes in. Since their 1994 founding in Sweden, the oat milk brand has always emphasized transparency in their sustainability practices and goals. Each year they release a sustainability report in which they’ll admit to their gains and downfalls. In this Instagram story sequence, I wanted to play homage to the company’s Swedish roots with folk style illustrations, while comparing the water usage of growing and producing almond milk vs oat milk. The goal is to promote that oat milk is typically a more environmentally friendly alternative to dairy.
